This just came in as a shocker that just a large number of people in America are unable to enjoy the internet with broadband speed as per Microsoft. While the FCC statement regarding this issue is very different; the issue of providing the speedy internet should be solved on a national basis.
FCC or Federal Communications Commission submits a report two times a year through a forum known as Form 477 about the coverage of Broadband internet in the country. According to them, 25 million people don’t have access to Broadband as per the coverage maps, but Microsoft has rejected this report by conducting its survey.
They found that 162.8 million people do not enjoy internet at broadband speed while rural areas don’t even have access to the internet. This may be because the FCC does not follow the accurate survey pattern but takes help from the Census. To add more, he said that the FCC coverage maps are not working accurately. These numbers were declared in a blog post by the Chief data analysis at Microsoft John Kahan.
He further added that if one customer is getting a broadband service, then the entire block is counted as one enjoying the service. He further added that FCC needs to get on with the national level mission to solve the issue of rural internet.
Here it is noteworthy to mention that coverage maps are used to determine the fat who is getting funds and who is not for the funds which are used to bridge the gaps of broadband coverage. In last December, the chairman of FCC Ajit Pai that the agency would investigate of the carriers is not submitting the correct data for the coverage maps.
Microsoft chief analysis suggested that FCC improves the coverage maps data analyzing capacity before submitting another report. FCC has not responded to this reporting at the moment, but we hope that it sure do the amendments needed before another blow is taken on them.
